In 2009, David Marsden and Geoffrey Holt left a big regional practice and set up on their own in a small office above a shop on King Street — the same street we're on today.
They'd watched too many good businesses handed a set of accounts once a year and left to work out the rest for themselves. Their idea was straightforward: do the compliance properly, then actually use it — to save clients tax, to flag problems early, and to answer the phone when it rings. Accountancy, they reckoned, ought to be proactive and human.
Seventeen years on, that first room has grown into a team of around 20 looking after more than 500 businesses across Manchester and the North West. We've added software, specialists and a fair few qualifications along the way — but the idea hasn't changed at all. You still get a named adviser who knows your business and talks like a person.
